Why do you think certain people achieve and certain don't in their lives? Self confidence and self esteem plays a vital role in our lives. People who have high level of self confidence and self esteem succeed in all their endeavors when compared to one who has low level of self esteem. This is because self-esteemed people try out new things and have the confidence to confront challenges in their life. They are not afraid when a tough task comes their way. They see how to overcome it and not sit and cry.
For those who lack in self esteem, follow these tips and improve your life for the better:
1) Try to complement yourself when a job is well done. Don't wait for others to complement you. When you know what you have done is right, why wait for others to say good about you? Even if others do not praise you, make it a habit to praise others when they do something really good.
2) Wear a smile on your face always. Warm smile can do wonders. Even if you do not apply make-up, your smile will make you look good. When you have an appealing smile on your face, it not only attracts others but also boosts your self confidence.
3) Try to do new things every day. It can be anything like learning a new dish or learning the meaning for a new word or changing your hair-do, etc. Enjoy what you do and your self confidence is automatically increased.
4) Keep the place clean. Lot of clutter around you can make you feel low. When you are organized, your thoughts too are organized. If you feel your house is too clumsy, try to clean it. Ensure to clear up anything that is not clean or tidy. It can be your house, car or workplace. Make sure to clear out all cobwebs from your life. When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself that this day is going to be good for you.
5) Always try to move with people who have positive thinking. People with negative thoughts tend to ruin your life. Why take the chance of being with people who try to ditch you. Get away from them. Move with people who think, talk and act positively. They are the ones who will help you increase your self confidence and self esteem. You can find the change in yourself within a few days of you joining the gang of positive people.
6) Try to hear to pleasing music at least 15-20 minutes a day. Music really spices up your day.
7) Analyze your skills and see what things you are good at. Try to expertise your skills. Say for example, you are good at painting, look for the ways you can improve your painting skills.
What defines the way you think and act depends on the level of self confidence and self esteem. Follow these easy steps and boost your self confidence and self esteem.

Improving Self Confidence
By Anne Marshall
Why is it so important to develop a healthy self-confidence and a positive self-image? You might like to think about that for a moment.
You know, your self-confidence is arguably one of the most important qualities you have. It reflects your assessment of your own self worth and it plays an important part in determining your happiness in life.
We can all feel a lack of confidence from time to time and most of us have one or more areas of our lives where we would like to be a little more confident, positive and sure of ourselves.
Here are a few simple tips to start you on the road of improving your confidence:
1. Be honest with yourself. Admitting you would like more confidence in one or more areas of your life is an essential step.
2. Identify the fear. If you can, aim to identify the underlying fear that is holding you back. For example, I recently realised how much I lacked confidence when walking down a steep cliff path. I realised that it wasn't anything to do with the height or downward motion but it was a residual memory of falling and hurting my back many years ago. The unconscious triggering of that painful memory was making me tense up and feel unsure of myself, with the end result that I was indeed more likely to fall. Being aware of any underlying fears will be a tremendous help but if this doesn't come easily for you, consider asking for some skilled help in this area.
3. Be aware of your expectations, they can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. For example, in my own case, the more I expected to fall, the more likely I was to tense up and stumble, so reinforcing my lack of confidence in this area. Breaking this cycle of negative expectations is crucial to building up your confidence levels.
4. Watch your self talk throughout the day. You will probably notice that you often speak to yourself in a way that you would never speak to others? You know the sort of thing, calling yourself an idiot for making a mistake and so on. The way that we talk to ourselves is called self-talk and each of the thoughts we have about ourselves is stored and processed in our subconscious mind. Eventually these thoughts accumulate to create our beliefs and self-image. If you repeatedly focus on something with vivid imagery, and strong feelings and emotions then the subconscious mind has no choice but to accept it as real. So make sure you self-talk stays positive.
5. Celebrate! Yes, even for the minor successes in your life. Being grateful for something and celebrating it's presence in your life reinforces the belief that you can be, do and have what you want and is a wonderful way of boosting your confidence levels.
So consider, what could you achieve if you had more confidence? Would you take on new responsibilities at work, or go out more? Whatever you chose, know that it is possible with just a little bit of focused effort and a willingness to change. At the end of the day deciding to improve your confidence could be one of the most important decisions you ever take.

Improve Self Confidence - 10 Powerful Confidence Boosters
By Jeff Smith
If there is one underlying factor that prevents us from having the friends we want, getting the things we wish, attracting the partners we desire, impressing our peers, or achieving fulfillment and happiness it is low self-confidence.
It doesn't matter who you are, how successful you have been, we all have situations or times in our lives where we don't feel as confident or sure of ourselves. Sometimes we don't even fully realize it, but we get nervous, become quiet, or don't appear as strong and assured as we would like, for those times we have these 10 techniques to improve self confidence.
1. To improve self confidence, realize that you are not alone in your feelings of uncertainty. A good deal of low self confidence is directly related to irrational beliefs we have that others around us are somehow immortal and do not suffer from the same uncertainties we do. Begin with the understanding that we all experience lapses in our self confidence and that nobody else is 100% self assured.
2. When you hit a low point in your self confidence you often are worried about what other people will think. Who wants to look like a fool in front of someone they feel is very important? To counter this feeling, convince yourself that everyone else who you think is judging your every action and word is probably more messed up than you are! Seriously, we tend to drastically overestimate the importance and intelligence of other people. By thinking of others as mere mortals we can improve self confidence quickly.
3. Become smarter in the field you intend to play. A very good way to improve self confidence is to learn more than the others you want to impress, attract or interact with. Gaining specialized knowledge is a super way to lessen intimidation and increase overall self esteem.
4. Focus on what you are good at. When you see people that appear at the top of their game, completely self assured they often appear that way because they are extremely confident in certain areas of their lives and they stick to those areas. If you are stuck in a job where you have little skill and even less ambition, then yes, you will continually have low self confidence because you are not playing to an area of strength.
5. Have a purpose that drives you, gives your life meaning and offsets your uncertainty is one of the best ways to improve self confidence. Just like it is hard to laugh and cry at the same time, it's hard to be focused and on-purpose yet still have low self confidence.
6. Fake it until you make it. One of the most valuable courses I ever took in school was dramatic arts. That's right, learning to act. From that point on I knew that in situations where I had low self confidence at least I could fall back on "acting" my way out until I could improve self confidence.
7. Use visualizations to improve self confidence by running through positive scenarios in your mind just before or during periods where your self esteem is challenged. When your visualizations are positive enough and real enough you can make massive advances in your self confidence levels.
8. In times when you are not at your best, where your confidence is challenged, power your way through it. The worst thing you can do is give in to your fears as that just leads to even lower self esteem the next time around.
9. Pay attention to your inner dialog stopping yourself whenever you are turning negative or self-defeating thoughts over in your head. By substituting positive visualizations for negative self-talk you can instantly improve self confidence.
10. Get involved in activities that help build inner strength and improve self confidence. A good example is martial arts. With its focus on discipline, inner awareness and strength you can break through many of the personal limitations that were previously holding you back.
There are ways you can immediately improve self confidence in your life taking you to amazing levels of achievement, fulfillment and joy so stop suffering, take control and let your true potential finally shine through for all the world to see.

Using Mind Power Techniques to Improve Self Confidence
By Jon Mercer
A lot of people would like to improve their self-confidence, and there are many mind power techniques to make the process easier and more effective. Unfortunately, most people try to "force" their minds to consciously think of themselves in a more confident way. A good example of this is the use of affirmations. Affirmations certainly have their use, and can be a good technique to gain confidence; the problem is that it takes a long time to see good results in using this method.
But mind power techniques can bypass the conscious mind, and help develop a more self-confident mindset from the deeper subconscious level -- where it counts the most. Think about it: just telling yourself that you're confident and successful doesn't really have a great impact on your core personality. The reason is because confidence and self-respect come from a deeper part of the mind -- your subconscious. In order to "breakthrough" your limiting thoughts, you will need to appeal directly to your subconscious mind and those deep internal beliefs that you may not be aware of. This is where it using mind power techniques has a clear advantage.
A few examples of techniques that affect the subconscious mind would include the use of subliminal suggestion, hypnosis, self hypnosis, using "leading question" affirmations, visualization and "reframing" techniques. All of these bypass the conscious mind, and directly affect the subconscious to change your deepest held beliefs and attitudes.
Study after study has shown that hypnosis, for example, can affect a change in people's behavior, without them really even understanding why. This is because they are being affected on the deeper subconscious level. This is a prime example of how using mind power techniques can change behaviors and potentially improve our quality of life.
One recent double-blind study at an Israeli university (Hassin, 2007) displayed subliminal images of either the Israeli or Palestine flag to volunteers. The results of the study were fascinating to say the least. Individuals who were shown subliminal images of the flags actually modified their political views (and even their voting behaviors in the upcoming Israeli election) based on which flag they had been shown.
Is also interesting to note that none of the individuals who took part in the study were aware that they had been exposed to a subliminal image of a flag, and in post-study questionnaires, they believed that they had not altered their political beliefs at all, even though a preliminary questionnaire given before the study proved otherwise.
Many other studies have shown similar results, suggesting that mind power techniques such as subliminal suggestion are not only registered by the mind, but have an effect on our behavior.
The same kinds of techniques can be used in a positive way, to improve self-confidence, overcome phobias, and even lessen the effects of depression. Ever since the early days of hypnosis, it has been observed that individuals can be manipulated to think and behave in different ways based on the power of suggestion. These days, there are a wide variety of mind power techniques available, to address a wide variety of self-help issues.
A few of the most common uses for mind power techniques are to lose weight, to increase confidence, to attract the opposite sex, to stop smoking, drinking, gambling or other addictive activities, and even to attract greater success and wealth.
Unfortunately, most of these techniques have not been studied in great detail, so more research is needed before scientists can understand the most efficient way of affecting positive change. Even so, many people swear by mind power techniques such as visualization, using subliminal CDs or software or self hypnosis. And even if it is only a "placebo effect" that is causing the changes in behavior, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter. Anything that produces a positive effect on individual's life -- like increasing confidence -- is certainly valuable and worthy of our attention.

Have Confidence in Yourself!
By Shanat Kuphur
The problems related to self-confidence do not come to an end at the onset it self and has deep rooted effects. Confidence becomes a problem not only in public, but it shoots up when an individual is supposed to undertake responsibilities in life. An individual is bound to show different aspects of his/her character when faced with different situations. Every individual is a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister, a husband or a wife, an officer or a subordinate all in one at the same time. All these different faces fill him with various tasks that have to be undertaken with no failure.
Self-confidence to deliver all duties with nothing lagging behind is something without which all of us find difficult from time to time. It is quite a task to proceed at times of difficulties. When too many demanding situations come up simultaneously, it is quite common that people shiver in front of the dilemma. The puzzles continue unresolved. Shouting at fellow beings or blaming others is going to be of no use. People need to realize the situation and problems and need to act accordingly. When one realizes the lack of self-confidence in, you must take necessary actions to overcome the problem to bring out the best in you.
A person who has a serious problem in regards to confidence will start facing the problem from an early age and may even experience difficulties in looking at others or to talk in front of people. Their confidence interferes with a self-awareness of the bodily changes at the time of puberty and slowly you turn out to be introverted. It is a common phenomenon that even people who were smart and active in their young ages undergo a drastic change in their teenage years. They find it difficult to accept the change of voice and features in them. The lack of self-confidence again rises up.
At a later stage, in colleges they have to face too many stages and audiences as compared to their earlier life. Seminars, project presentations and arts day turns out to be their worst nightmare. Career graph remains stagnant and failures in profession follow in life.
Fellow beings can help these people a lot to boost their confidence level. But when beyond a limit, hypnosis is the best technique to deal with the problem of self-confidence. Tensions and worries are wiped away through a relaxation of mind and body. Insight into the potentials inside him will help him to gain confidence, thereby polishing his talents. Hypnotherapy techniques help him to get back the self-confidence immersed in his anxieties and help him in conquering heights of life.
It is easy to help a man to achieve success in life. At the same time no time is required to defeat him if he is less confident about himself. The entire journey of life is through the confidence of heart and mind. Self-confidence is the motivating power acting from within that takes him through the hardest paths of life.

4 Quick Tips to Improve Your Self Confidence
By Greg Frost
Self confidence is akin to a tool. It provides you with a sense of certainty, and helps you to manage your fears. Self confidence is usually built up through a history of positive experiences, and with an improved sense of self confidence you will find that your esteem and mental state will be greatly improved as well.
If you find yourself unable to summon up courage to voice your own opinion, or to tell someone to back off when you need to, then it is probably a sign that you need to improve your self confidence. Here are 4 easy tips that will help you do just that.
Tip #1: Set Goals
The first step in gaining self confidence is to set realistic and achievable goals for yourself. These goals should not be unachievable nor out of reach, but should be a challenge for you so that you can improve. No goal is too small, as every little step counts and works towards achieving the next bigger goal. With set goals, you will be able to push yourself to exceed your comfort zone, and it will give you something concrete to work towards.
Tip #2: Control your Feelings
Feelings are strong emotions that can have a big impact on our self confidence. Emotions associated with fear, anxiety or distrust can undermine our self esteem, whilst others like happiness and excitement can increase our self confidence. By being able to control your emotions so that you do not fall prey to negative emotions, you will be able to project positive emotions. This makes it easier for you to act and appear more confident.
Tip #3: Have a Mentor
Pick someone that you trust who will be able to give you the type of guidance that you are looking for. Make sure that it is someone who will not be afraid to push you to achieve your goals, and hold you accountable if you are not reaching them. It can be a friend or a family member, or a professional even.
Tip #4: Take Action
Do not allow yourself to procrastinate as you need to take active steps in order to build confidence. It is often a vicious cycle if you insist on waiting for your confidence to improve first before taking action to help you grow your self-confidence. Based on the goals that you have set for yourself, set aside an hour or so everyday to work on doing activities that will help you to achieve those targets.
Stop yourself from worrying about being unprepared, or not confident enough to approach new activities. Whilst it is normal to worry, it is important that you do not do so excessively. There are many possibilities open to you, and you need to be receptive to developing your own self-confidence.

10 Powerful Tips to Improve Self Confidence
By Jon Mercer
If you find yourself feeling like you're "in a rut" and not appreciating yourself as much as you should, there are simple changes you can make to improve self-confidence and take charge of your life again. Confidence affects every area of life, from relationships to the workplace. And improving your self-confidence will always have a beneficial effect on both your relationships with others, and your ability to handle the little ups and downs that life can throw at us from time to time.
As a personal development coach, I have worked with many individuals to increase self-esteem and self-acceptance. The following 10 tips have proven time and again to improve self-confidence for a wide variety of people.
1. Clothes Make the Man and Woman. Yes, it's an old cliche', but that doesn't make it any less true. When we dress confidently, we feel confident. Try this experiment: for one week, dress like the person you want to be, NOT the person you think you are. This one is simple change can dramatically improve self-confidence.
2. Stop Trying so Hard. Improving confidence should not be about struggling. Give up trying to be a perfectionist, and give yourself permission to be a human being who will naturally make mistakes sometimes. A sure-fire way to feel inferior is to set the bar too high in every area of your life. Cut yourself some slack -- you deserve it.
3. Focus Your Attention Outward. Lack of confidence often causes people to focus an inordinate amount of attention inward, on the "self." Make it a point to focus more attention on others than you do on yourself. Remember, confident people focus outward -- insecure people focus inward.
4. Avoid Energy Vampires. All of us know someone who seems to "suck the energy" out of a room just by entering. Give yourself permission to minimize contact with these people. Don't hate them or judge them in any way. Just recognize that they do not improve the quality of your life, and minimize your connection with them.
5. Take a Chance. Try something new and different that you may have been apprehensive about in the past. Enroll in an adult education class, or join a book club, gym, bowling league or other social pastime. Shake up your life a little bit. The change will do you good, and your self-confidence will improve.
6. Be a Giver. There is an old proverb that says "you only get what you give." With that in mind, start giving what you want to receive in life. Make other people feel as confident and worthwhile as you can. By helping to build up confident feelings in others, you are sure to get back the same thing. Call it karma or what ever you like -- it always works.
7. Practice Forgiveness. Many people are very hard on themselves because, deep down, they have not forgiven themselves for something in their past. If you're clinging to some failure or transgression from the past, recognize that you are doing it and then forgive yourself completely for whatever it was. Likewise, if there is someone else in your life you need to forgive, make it a point to do so. NOT for their sake -- but for yours. When we forgive, we purify our heart and start anew.
8. Affirmations: Ask Yourself the Right Questions. Some people repeat affirmations such as "I am self confident," which is fine, but you can improve your affirmation results by using leading questions such as, "why am I so confident?" The subconscious mind operates in a very simple manner. When you ask it a question like this, it will immediately go to work looking for the answer, and it will report back to you all of the ways you already are confident.
9. "Model" Other Confident People. One way to improve self-confidence is to model the behavior of people whom you consider to be supremely confident. If you can befriend a very confident person, that's great. But if not, just find an actor or other celebrity who is confidence personified, and study their behavior. Do this several times a week, and some of their confident mannerisms are bound to rub off on you.
10. Practice Gratitude. A grateful mind is a peaceful mind, and a peaceful mind radiates confidence. Practice making a daily gratitude list, and particularly focus on different aspects of yourself that you appreciate. Maybe you are a great swimmer, or good at math, or really strong, or a good dancer, or have an unusual sense of humor, or are good at design, or a great singer, or a really good friend, or any number of other positive attributes. Look for what is great about you, and then be grateful you have those qualities. Appreciating your good qualities will improve self-confidence, and help you develop the kind of positive self-image that is crucial to success in life.
Finally, you can improve self confidence without endless affirmations or struggling! Discover how to build self confidence the easy way.

An Easy And Effective Way To Improve Your Confidence
By Hani Al-qasem
Many of us generally feel great, relieved and grateful when we leave the past behind, where we gladly and happily approach and enter a new year. We tend to look at the beginning of a new year as a new era, as an opportunity for us to recoup and regenerate, an opportunity for us to re-evaluate our lives and where we are now. We sit back and analyze where we went wrong and remembering with happiness where we went right.
Then, when we are set and done, we sit up straight, we stick our chest out and we start the yearly ritual of pondering what we can do to improve this year on the last.
Armed with a pen and pad, we start to think anew. Think ahead, and, if we're confident and courageous enough, we'd even set new goals or perhaps we'd rehash the old goals that we did not yet achieve. That's fine, even great. At least we started to think ahead and plan what it is that we want, and we hopefully set them as goals and not mere wishes.
At this point, I take it that many of you have undergone such a ceremony. Now, it is vitally important for you to realize that for you to be successful in your pursuit of your goals, whatever they may be, and for you to actually achieve those goals or aspirations and live the life of your dreams, you cannot afford the comfort of being unconfident.
To have anything that you want and to become the person that you want to become, you have to rise above your limitations and gradually increase the level of your self-confidence. Lacking confidence in any area of your life is a stumbling block that you have to burst through or climb over. Or, at least, challenge your unconfident areas one by one and step by step.
Decide now that you are willing to move beyond the restrictions that you have in your life. Leave 2007 behind and don't glance back. Make a list of what you want to achieve this year, and take the necessary action to increase your confidence level to accomplish what it is that your desire.
You can overcome the lack of confidence step by step, one day at a time. For example, if you are lacking confidence in social functions, make it your weekly or bi-weekly goal to attend small social events, even at your local pub or club. Pluck up the confidence and courage to introduce yourself to any person you feel you might be comfortable with. Try it out. If that seems too much for you, stand in a strategic place where there's lots of traffic. It won't be long before someone strikes up a conversation with you.
Building on your confidence is just like anything else in the world. It takes practice and repetition. Consistently make an effort to increase your confidence. The beauty is, any confidence that you build on in one area tends to overflow and increase your confidence in another area.
As you gradually increase your confidence, you become more comfortable in many new situations that you may encounter. Confidence builds on itself and spreads to various areas. Make use of that. And before you know it, you will graduate to having a high level of confidence.
Hani Al-Qasem is the co-author of "Self-Confidence Building in 7 Steps." He is proud and passionate about his dream and vision to help inspire, motivate and support adults and children, of all ages, to be the best that they can be in all areas of their lives. Is it Possible to Retrain Your Brain and Improve Self Confidence?
By
There are lots of techniques and products that claim to be able to retrain your brain and improve self-confidence. But is there any clear evidence that it is possible to affect your subconscious and fundamentally change the way you feel about yourself?
I've been a personal development coach for pretty long time now, so I've obviously come into contact with many people desiring to make changes in their life. And one of the most common and fundamental changes a person can make is to improve their self-confidence.
One technique that claims to be able to improve self-confidence is affirmations. Affirmations are probably the easiest of all personal development techniques to employ. They simply require you to repeat -- or affirm -- positive statements to yourself. Research has shown that when used on a daily basis, affirmations can have some effect on self-confidence. However, this technique can take a very long time to show results, and in many cases, those results can be minimal.
Another technique to retrain your brain for increased self-confidence is to use self hypnosis. Hypnosis bypasses the critical conscious mind, to present commands or "suggestions" to the subconscious mind. Research on hypnosis suggests that approximately 55 to 60% of all individuals can be hypnotized, so while this technique can be useful to many people, it is by no means a fool-proof solution.
Self hypnosis in particular is difficult to assess as a meaningful way to improve self-confidence. Again, research suggest that self hypnosis can be useful for a wide range of issues, including calming fears and anxieties, and building greater self-esteem and confidence, though again, not everyone is likely to benefit from this technique.
Still another method of "mental reprogramming" is the use of subliminal suggestions. While there is much controversy about the effectiveness of subliminal commands and suggestions, several recent studies indicate that subliminal messages are both registered and understood by the subconscious mind.
The University of Bethlehem in Israel recently conducted subliminal research wherein participants were randomly shown subliminal images of either the Israeli or Palestine flag. The results of this research clearly indicate that subjects who had been exposed to the subliminal flag images altered their political points of view depending on which flag was used.
Follow-up research suggested that being shown the subliminal flag image could even cause the participants to change their voting behavior in the Israeli general election. This and other similar studies suggest that, not only are subliminal suggestions and symbols clearly understood, but they also have the power to change both attitude and behavior. While more research is necessary, the current studies suggest there is the potential to "retrain" states of mind and behavior through the use of subliminal suggestions and symbology.
Finally, one increasingly popular method to improve confidence is to use a "Gestalt" approach, which incorporates all of the above techniques and more in an attempt to "overwhelm" the subconscious mind with a deluge of new information. While there is little formal research on the effectiveness of this "all-inclusive" method of retraining the human brain, anecdotal evidence suggests that this may likely be the best approach.
The "Gestalt" method of overwhelming the subconscious mind is actually quite similar to brainwashing. The only difference being that the individual is in control of the process, and is basically attempting to brainwash themselves.
Overall, there isn't enough empirical evidence to say with certainty how effective any of these methods may be to improve self confidence, though it stands to reason that using a multi-faceted approach to "retrain your brain" is likely to produce the best results.
